Denver & Rio Grande
Western #278 is a 2-8-0, C-16 narrow gauge locomotive built by Baldwin
Locomotive Works in 1882. This locomotive, one of the oldest narrow gauge
engines of the D&RGW, was in continuous operation for nearly 70 years. It was
retired from service in 1952 and placed on display in Montrose, Colorado. In
later years, it was relocated to a new sight near Cimarron, Colorado, where it
remains today on display by the National Parks Service. |
